Basic Info
Name:Shuten Douji
Birthdate:06-08
Bio

character: Shuten Douji
series: Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (dubbed Ronin Warriors in the States)
age: 437, physically 18.
gender: male
sexuality: straight - but it's not completely impossible for him to find another male attractive as he's from a time when male love between warriors wasn't uncommon.

appearance:

Standing at a respectable 5 feet 8 inches, Shuten is in the prime of life, a battle-trained warrior. He's lean and wiry, with a beguilingly-handsome face that could be equally at home on an angel. His cinnamon-red hair is the reason for his name within the ranks of Arago's Masho, Shuten Douji meaning Red-Topped Child. It's a bit of a jab at his age, however, but Shuten takes it in-stride, as he was made the leader of the Demon Generals not long after being bestowed the Oni Yoroi. As for the yoroi, the armor itself, it is designed like the feudal samurai armor to make the wearer seem larger than they are. The sub-armor is a misty blue-grey, and the full Oni Armor itself adds massive shoulder, arm, shin, and chest guards in a deep brown. The leg and forearm guards are set with thick heavy spikes, and at his waist is a set of spikes resembling the curving horns of an oxen. Over the metallic armor is a coat of brown and yellow, a sleeveless jacket that flares out slightly at his knees. The helmet resembles a typical samurai helmet, deep brown with a crimson facemask that is worked to resemble an Ogre. A large set of curving silver horns is set on his brow. The Ogre Armor itself is the physical manifestation of Spring, yet while it is evil, it can draw power from evil thoughts and can absorb excess energy. The weapon he carries while wearing the full set of Oni Yoroi is a kusari-gama. Actually a weapon suited to a ninja, the short scythe attatched to a weighted claw by a length of chain is used in his attack, the Ko Rai Sei, or 'Red Lightning Flash'. The chain seems to be able to stretch to impossible lengths, links magically appearing or disappearing given the need.

personality:

Having an ego the size of a small planet, Shuten is normally very boisterous and brash, unafraid to announce his skill and accomplishments. On the flip side, he can be very cold and calculating, as he is the leader of Arago's 4 Demon Generals. He isn't terribly trusting, as the alliance between he and his fellow Masho is a tense one, all of them jockeying for favor in Arago's eyes by gloating on the failures of another. Yet now that his trait, Loyalty, has been revealed, Shuten finds himself in a fix. Beneath the battle-hardened and demonic general there is a wise and calm warrior within, a gentle soul he didn't know he posessed. He's constantly torn between the bloodshed of his past and the enlightenment his trait brings him. One of the only Demon Generals who enjoys self-improvement, Shuten delights in gaining knowledge, be it through books or experiences. He also fancies himself a bit of a writer.

abilities/weaponry:

The Ko Rai Sei attack works by driving the heavy clawed weight into the ground, where it magically splits into dozens of other chain-claws, which burst out from all directions, enstaring victims in their random wild tangle. This allows him to leisurely move through the net of chains with the scythe blade and dispatch those suspended in the chains at his convenience. Aside from this chief attack, the kusari-gama is a handy weapon, his expertise with such allowing him to ensnare a victim in loops of coil, be it completely, or around something such as an arm or leg. The claw, when spun overhead to add force to the throw, can be a deadly thing to face, and coming within reach of the scythe-blade is almost certain death.

In his Armor, Shuten posesses great strength, able to leap into the skies by bounding off of the sides of buildings, and withstand blows that would kill even a heavily-armored samurai.

weaknesses:

His own ego. Often he lets his pride and villainous tendencies blind him in battle, which can easily become his downfall. Another major point of contention is the unveiling of the Confucian Virtue upon his forehead, Chu, or Loyalty. The truth the trait revealed to him has shattered the basis for his becoming a Demon General, leaving him questioning his motives, as well as Arago's. He also has an underdeveloped sense of trust.

Physically speaking, he isn't immune to wounds while in his yoroi. Repeated blows can damage the yoroi itself, and getting knocked around inside a suit of armor, be it mystical or not, is still immensely hurtful. Often times it seems as if the yoroi is an extension of himself, as blows seem to hurt as if they were inflicted on his bare skin.

history:

Long ago, long before the clans were even united in Japan, a great Demon known as Arago rose up and challenged the living world in a gain for power. Emerging from the nether world, the Youjakai, Arago was so powerful that it seemed all was lost, even mighty warriors falling before him. From a remote mountain clan rode Kaos, the ancient mystic of the holy clan, in the robes of a monk and carrying a magical shakujo - a Buddhist Priest's staff. With him was Byakuen-Oh, a large white tiger. Together they battled Arago, eventually defeating him. To prevent Arago from rising again, Kaos divided his body into 9 parts, 9 suits of mystical Yoroi, each with tremendous abilities. On each of them he bestowed 9 Confucian Virtues in hopes that it would prevent them from falling into evil hands. The 9 Yoroi were scattered to various clans, but not before the soul of Arago ensnared 4, sealing away the virtue that would have kept them pure. These he kept in his posession, until he found 4 warriors to fill the Armors and re-start his conquest for power and the reclamation of the missing 5. Each of the 4 Armors finally found a bearer. Anubisu for Yami, Naaza for Doku, Rajura for Gen. Only the Oni lacked one. That was when Arago spied from his castle in the Youjakai a warrior terrible enough to be called the Ogre.

He was born Toshidata Kohma, June 8th, 1551, near what would be present-day Kyoto. His father died when he was young, Shuten growing to serve a small fief as a soldier. His thirst for power and to rule everything under the sky brought him to the attention of Arago. Even if he was the youngest of the 4 Masho, the Demon Generals, his new Oni Yoroi gave him strength over the other 3. Teased for his youth and his hair, he took up the name Shuten Douji, the Red-Top Child, and began his life of conquest and warfare. Hundreds of years passed, one year in the mortal world, the Ningenkai, equal to a hundred years in the Youjakai. Arago's search for the missing 5 Armors was relentless, until finally they were found, having surfaced in the modern world. Arago began his attack, using his power to seal away all the mortals in the Ningenkai, trapping them within his nether realm and siphoning power from their trapped souls to strengthen his forces. Thus the war between the Masho and the 5 Samurai Troopers begun. It was a long brutal struggle, as the Masho were defeated again and again, their victories gaining them only a meager foothold in the tide of war. Shuten endured the most torment out of the 4, as he was the leader and the youngest. Enduring his punishments, Shuten persisted, but the constant wearing of battle on his mind was making him bold. He was beginning to question Arago's motives. It was during a fateful encounter with his polar opposite within the Troopers, Touma Hashiba, the bearer of the Tenku Yoroi, when his beliefs were shaken. The archer split his helmet open with a well-placed arrow, along with something else. Evil's control over him shattered just then. That was when Kaos made his move. He had been assisting the Troopers in their battle, and knew the time would come to enlighten the Masho as to the true nature of their Armor and of their use to Arago. He was only using them to gain control of the complete set of 9, at which time he would be able to manifest himself as a whole physical being and once again conquer the world. The human bearers of the Armors would sit as emotionless puppets, powering the mystical shells that would give Arago life.

The trait of Chu, Loyalty, was revealed to him in the form of a glowing yellow kanji upon his forehead, even as his loyalty to Arago was shaken to the core. Now Shuten must face the ultimate question - has 500 years of war and a thirst for power been for naught? He would return to the Youjakai with a troubled heart, but the ability to transport himself willingly to and from the Youjakai slipped somehow, sending him tumbling into a strange and new world.

Not Shuten. (just me.)
